The LIstening Party

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

Last night I had the wonderful opportunity of having my very own listening party for the many producers, writers, friends, and many musicians… basically many of the people who haved helped along the way, including the ones who helped financially. There were also a number of young celebrities there from Nick and Disney TV shows and movies, all to wish me luck with the record and to help on a viral video we’re producing.

I first headed over to Steve’s house to finally listen to the album for the first time. After listening to it I was blown away by how different it was from anything I have heard before. I was literally speechless. After listening to all 9 tracks of the album, we all decided to head over to Bar 210 located at the Beverly Hilton. Unlike other Listening Parties where the artist arrives fashionably late to a red carpet, I arrived early and greeted people at the door as they entered.

When greeting and thanking people for coming was over, I went for a quick outfit change into a suit and made my way back out to talk to everyone. Rob and Steve began to thank my mom and grandma and agent Sydel for all their hard work. Then it was my turn to perform for the people 3 songs from the album (Daylight, Closer To You and We Need To Change). I will let you in on a little secret, while performing We Need To Change I forgot the words on the second time singing the chorus but many people wouldn’t even know so that’s between you and me.

After singing they brought out my favorite cake (red velvet), and then we partied the rest of the night. Although I didn’t get to enjoy my cake because I wanted to mingle with people and say Hi to everyone as the album played in the background, I did have a lot of fun just laughing and speaking with people. Overall I think the party was a complete success and I got a lot of compliments on the album and my voice and I am completely thankful for all the support. I can’t wait for the official album release party in Las Vegas because that means the album will soon be out and people will get to enjoy it.

I’d like to thank all the folks at Bar 210 for hosting the night, especially Scarlet Garcia.

My very own blog – Post #1!

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Hello everyone. My name is AJ Green and I am a singer. And I am about to release my very first record. It’s called “Whatever You Need” and I hope you will check it out.

I hope this blog will be a place to communicate with you and share my thoughts. Maybe you will post a comment back and we can get a little dialogue going. I am pretty busy with school and launching my career so I can’t promise to always be in touch with everyone individually but I will do my best to keep some thoughts flowing through this informal section of my site.

The guys who have made this project come together so far, Steve and Rob, asked me to start out by letting you know who I am as an artist and what I hope to accomplish.

As an artist, I want to be different, even though like other artists, I have a story. I want to relate to everyone and for them to understand my feelings in song. It is not always about making music that has a catchy beat or a good hook, it’s about more than that to me. I do not want to be in the business for the fame, fortune or celebrity status. (I know that you have heard that before.) I just want to sing and be an inspiration to people with personal struggles and sickness who may be able to relate to my situation.

But I don’t want my music to be only about my pain or my hurt. I want it to be about victory over any situation… to let you know that no matter what you may be experiencing, you will make it through.
