Last night I had the wonderful opportunity of having my very own listening party for the many producers, writers, friends, and many musicians… basically many of the people who haved helped along the way, including the ones who helped financially. There were also a number of young celebrities there from Nick and Disney TV shows and movies, all to wish me luck with the record and to help on a viral video we’re producing.
I first headed over to Steve’s house to finally listen to the album for the first time. After listening to it I was blown away by how different it was from anything I have heard before. I was literally speechless. After listening to all 9 tracks of the album, we all decided to head over to Bar 210 located at the Beverly Hilton. Unlike other Listening Parties where the artist arrives fashionably late to a red carpet, I arrived early and greeted people at the door as they entered.
When greeting and thanking people for coming was over, I went for a quick outfit change into a suit and made my way back out to talk to everyone. Rob and Steve began to thank my mom and grandma and agent Sydel for all their hard work. Then it was my turn to perform for the people 3 songs from the album (Daylight, Closer To You and We Need To Change). I will let you in on a little secret, while performing We Need To Change I forgot the words on the second time singing the chorus but many people wouldn’t even know so that’s between you and me.
After singing they brought out my favorite cake (red velvet), and then we partied the rest of the night. Although I didn’t get to enjoy my cake because I wanted to mingle with people and say Hi to everyone as the album played in the background, I did have a lot of fun just laughing and speaking with people. Overall I think the party was a complete success and I got a lot of compliments on the album and my voice and I am completely thankful for all the support. I can’t wait for the official album release party in Las Vegas because that means the album will soon be out and people will get to enjoy it.
I’d like to thank all the folks at Bar 210 for hosting the night, especially Scarlet Garcia.
